Come discover Chaves-Verín
The Eurocity is currently consolidated as a thermal tourism area of excellence, with an integrated vision: an innovative and quality offer in the field of infrastructures and specialised services (thermal spas); a professionalised offer in the field of hospitality and catering; the development of complementary services and activities that stimulate a friendly, healthy and environmentally sustainable environment. Here you will find extremely useful information, learn how to contemplate our heritage, appreciate our landscapes, get excited by our nooks and crannies and enjoy our gastronomy and festivities.
Flying over the territory from the north, the journey through the Eurocity Chaves-Verín begins, sighting first the lands of Monterrei, neighboring county with Verín, where the history of this valley begins, and we observe a walled complex, its castle, defensive bastions, the pilgrims' hospital, church and the houses of the vassals and counts of Monterrei. In front of the castle, raised on a hill, was the old Jesuit college, today the Parador Nacional de Turismo. Vineyards, land of wines with designation of origin, Verín is Godello and Mencia, characteristics that give this valley its own personality and that the visitor can enjoy by traveling the Monterrei Wine Route. Moving from wine to water, in Verín, the northern district of the Eurocity, three spas, Sousas, Fontenova and Cabreiroá bottle their mineral waters, springs from which pure and transparent waters emerge, and a fourth spa, Caldeliñas, which highlights the important role of thermalism in this town's past.

The Támega, a Galician affluent of the Douro and the link between the two districts, crosses Verín, flowing southwards, and following its path, that of Santiago, until it crosses the "streak" with Portugal and reaches Chaves, the Roman Aquae Flaviae. The medieval castle, the fort of San Francisco, the Roman bridge or the recently discovered Roman baths reveal its glorious thermal past, which today can be appreciated through its therapeutic qualities in the Termas do Imperador. We continue our trip through the valley of Támega, towards Vidago, letting ourselves be captivated by the charm of the historic Palace and its natural landscape. And at the table, nothing better than tasting the famous smoked ham and smoked ham, fundamental ingredients in the making of folar, as well as the well-known "pastéis de Chaves" which will surely delight the most demanding palates.
