Urban Cross Border Transportation Chaves-Verín (TUT)
In 2019, the Eurocity Chaves-Verín implemented the Transborder Urban Transport Chaves-Verín (TUT), which aims to make available to Eurocitizens an occasional transport service on the days of greatest need for cross-border mobility, namely on the days of the fairs of the cities of Chaves and Verín and on the days when the main events of the two municipalities take place. Objectives
One of the main obstacles to the development of the Eurocity is the almost non-existence of connectivity in public transport between the two territories that make it up because they are considered international trips. The improvement of connectivity between Chaves and Verín is, first of all, a legislative and construction problem of the European Union itself that has been studied by the Eurocity in the search for solutions that can contribute to solving the problem, proposing alternatives that allow the creation of habits to "cross the border. It is also an environmental problem, because currently the car itself is the only means of transport that allows citizens to participate in the various events or go to the joint services that the Eurocity organizes and offers.
This occasional service will serve as a pilot project to evaluate the implementation of a regular public transport service between Chaves and Verín, asking TUT passengers to complete a survey. In it, the satisfaction levels and the most demanded stops will be evaluated, both in terms of cross-border labor mobility and use of services, as well as the need for intermediate stops between Chaves-Verín, achieving a greater public service throughout the territory as opposed to a commuter service.
